denhac has been running since 2008 on an all-volunteer team, a member-elected board, and managers the board appoints. It holds a woodshop, a metalshop, laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC, textiles, an electronics room and open workshop space.
I was Operations Director from 2022 to 2023, responsible for keeping the tools and equipment working and for organizing members to clean, improve and reorganize the space.
The interesting problem in a place like this is never the tools. It is getting a volunteer membership to take ownership of improving somewhere they already have a key to.
